Modern Mini Accordian Scrapook Album/Tree Decoration

Last year I started a new family Christmas tradition for each of my boys. I usually buy them an ornament for the tree but to change it up I made them each a mini album ornament. You can see last years ornament here.

So this year, in keeping with tradition, I designed another ornament/album for my guys and will also be selling DIY ornament/album kits on my etsy shop. Here are some sample photos. The kit will include wire word hanger and heart charm. There is room for up to 10 photos. In my sample there are 9 spots for photos as the accordian has been glued to the box, but there are endless possibilities I have left the back of the accordian blank so I can journal on it. Box measures 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" (6 cm x 6 cm). After the box is cut it is embossed to give texture and dimention. (Mostly because I love the look of embossed paper)
Inside the box the accordian mini album total length measures 11 1/4 x 2 1/2" (28.5 cm x 5.8 cm) Each square of the accordian is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" (5.8 cm x 5.8 cm).

I have left the back blank for journaling.

Heart charm attached

Kit will include:

1 die cut box cut from embossed sage green cardstock with gromets added for strength

1 pre scored accordian strip 11 1/4 x 2 1/2" (28.5 cm x 5.8 cm) Each square of the accordian is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" (5.8 cm x 5.8 cm).

4 each of die cut butterflies and hearts in various coordinating colours

4 die cut white mini tags

2 die cut parenthesis shaped journaling tags on paper featuring birds on a wire

6 blue self adhesive rhinestones

12" (30 cm ) length each of blue satin and blue grossgrain ribbon
24" (60 cm) length of white cotton thread
4 3" x 3" (7.5 cm x 7.5 cm) squares of various coordinating papers.

Strawberry Jam Anyone?

Last year I spent a couple of days with two fav aunties (you know who you are) pickling baby carrots on the farm. Not only were they absolutely delish, but I took home some fantastic memories of days well spent. I usually get a jar or two from one of them, so I decided that I should really learn about this process and what better way than hands on. The only thing I didn't do was actually dig the carrots out of the earth, my Uncle did that (thanks Uncle).

As a thank you to my Aunties I made them each a card and some Jar tags. They loved them so much that I thought I should make some for my shop this year. This time for Strawberry Jam too!

One album cover with wire word...partially opened
details on flaps (same for both albums).

Fully opened . . .
Close up of rubber stamped images with versamark ink (no colour - very subtle).
photo cards - ready to load with baby photos. I like to use a dark background for photos to make the images really pop. It should be more about the picture than anything else.

Teacher Appreciation Gift #1

Here is an embellished dollar store organizer/stationary box (love that store) that I cased from this blog: http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/2010/04/box-of-teacher-goodies.html

Incorporated one of my wire words into the design.

Tied a piece of upcycled blue jean denim to the handle (simple).
Closer shot of the wire word.
even closer.... LOL!
Being able to see where I glued the paper to the cover, I had to try and make it look better so also embellished the inside of the lid. My Saturday morning project is beginning to take a lot longer... but I like how it turned out. LOL!
Full view and notice that I lined the bottom of each space too, see, again... way more time than expected...
bent some paperclips into hearts and even altered the plain sticky notes... (seriously gettin way too carried away now!)
Made these the prior Saturday...
All wrapped up.
THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH TIME (or do I just get too carried away in crafty craziness) :}

Well... learning a bit more every day

Here are a couple of cards I made for a cousin and niece.... I always make atleast 2 of the same. May post the extras on my etsy... or keep for my stash... I always find masculine cards are hard to make. I like all things girly... so this is my attempt at a "man card". Simple but effective.

Card for my neice with some sparke and a spinner... love these cards

Mother's Day Shadow Box Gifts

Grandma always loves photos of her grandsons. I had this shadow box frame in a stash of supplies I need to use up.... Then added a bit of detail with a wire word hanger and button covered thumbtack. I wasn't sure what to do with the frame as far as painting it or covering it with paper.... once I added the layout inside of the frame I decided it looked fine in it's natural wood state. A few buttons to tie in with the tack added just the right finishing touch.
